Search Health Insurance
Are you still on the search for health insurance? There are tons of health insurance companies out there, but for some reason you are having a hard time getting a plan that fits your needs and budget. Here are some health plans to consider while on your search.
HMOs, or Health Maintenance Organizations, are still very popular and affordable. You get to choose your Primary Care Physician, or PCP, along as he or she is within their network of providers. You have to pay a low flat-rate monthly premium along with co-payments for each doctor visit. You are not able to see doctors outside the network unless for emergency purposes. Your PCP will refer you to other specialists that are within your network coverage.
If your employer offers health benefits, make sure to apply. If you see an option to obtain COBRA, you may want to get it. This will help keep you and your family covered incase you were to lose your job. You will have the same benefits as the group health plan you had with your employer – it acts as an extended coverage. You can also opt for short-term health insurance if you didn’t have the luxury of getting COBRA or a health plan through your employer. This is usually offered in terms between one month and one year, depending on where you live.
If you are living with pre-existing health conditions, you may find that it is very difficult to find a policy that will accept your application. To help speed along the process for some coverage, you can try getting accidental health insurance. You won’t be given any health screening or lab tests and you are automatically qualified if you are between 0 and 69. This doesn’t cover pre-existing medical conditions, but if you are injured due to any type of accident, you are covered.
